Door Seals
Paint booth door seals play a major role in keeping dust and debris out of your booth. On a paint booth, seals are located around vehicle or product entry doors and paint mix room doors. Seals are not only on vertical surfaces, but on horizontal surfaces. Seals running along the bottom of a paint booth door are called door sweep, as they sweep along the floor to make a tight fit.
Do Spray Booth Door Seals Need to be Replaced?
Door seals absolutely need to be replaced. After becoming damaged, dust and other microscopic contaminants can pass through the booth door openings and land in the wet paint. Besides disrupting the finish, this will require additional work to buff the paint to get a smooth finish. The best way to notice paint booth door seal issues is to look for paint streaks next to the door seals─ that would mean the air is leaking into or out of the booth where it isn’t supposed to.
Paint Booth Door Seals:
- Create a tight seal to keep dust out of your booth and out of your paint finish
- Keep fumes and paint overspray from exiting the booth
- Reduce noise from exiting or entering the booth
Door seals need replaced regularly due to:
- Damage from vehicles hitting them
- Paint build up
- Drying out from environmental factors
- Age and failure of glue holding them on
Door seals are inexpensive and are one of the biggest reasons why your paint finish may have dust in it. Replace your seals yearly to endure a tight fit for your doors and clean paint finishes.
